Nikita Mazepin is a 22-years-old driver from Russia who is spending his debut season in Formula 1. Mazepin’s career traditionally began with karting when he was 7 years old. And in 2014, he achieved outstanding results, finishing second in the World Championship organized by the FIA.

Since that moment the Russian has consistently showcased his talent across various racing categories. In 2016-17 Mazepin spent two seasons in Formula 3 for Hitech Grand Prix. And in the first year, the driver signed a contract with the Formula 1 Force India, becoming their development driver. 2018 was very successful for Nikita: he moved to GP3, where during the season claimed eight podiums, scored 198 points and became the runner-up of the championship!

In 2019, the Russian got the seat in Formula 2, where he spent two seasons. And after an outstanding 2020 campaign for Hitech GP, he started 2021 in a new status as a Formula 1 driver. Recently, Haas extended the contract with him for the next season. We called Nikita during the Russian Grand Prix and talked to him about his debut year in F1 and how ready the team is for 2022.

Mazepin and Schumacher will be partnered together at the American-owned outfit for a second consecutive year and the team’s seventh season in the sport.

We knew we wanted continuity behind the wheel in 2022 and I’m happy to confirm exactly that with Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin competing for Uralkali Haas F1 Team next year. 2021 has afforded both drivers the opportunity to learn Formula 1 – and as rookies – they’ve done a lot of that this year. It’s been a tough season for sure with the package we’ve had, but at the same time, they’ve both embraced the challenge and worked closely with the team to learn our processes and adapt to the rigours of a Formula 1 campaign and all that brings – both internally and externally. Aston Martin Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll and JCB Chairman Lord Bamford both attended the ceremony, which marks the official start of an 18-month construction and installation phase for a new headquarters for the Formula One team, which has been designed by Ridge and Partners LLP and project-managed by Ridge, construction consultancy Gardiner & Theobald, and the team’s own in-house resource.

The 400,000 square feet (37,000m2) buildings will become the new home of the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One team, which has outgrown its existing facilities and will rapidly grow its current headcount by the expected completion date of late 2022 or early 2023.

The new three-unit factory will be constructed on land across the road from the historic Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit: one building will house the team’s design, manufacturing and marketing resource; a second will be occupied by the brand-new wind tunnel; the third will redevelop and repurpose the existing factory premises as a central hub featuring staff amenities and a logistics centre.

Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN is adding Salt to the team’s growing family, as the Swiss telecommunications provider joins as partners to provide mobile services to the Formula One operations.

Since 2010 Paddock magazine, Formula 1’s business & lifestyle monthly, had compiled an annual list of the most powerful people in Formula 1. Places are allocated based on the amount of human, managerial and financial resources that they have sway over, as well as their influence on the sport.

To determine the ranking, we considered more than 200 of the most influential players in Formula 1, and we evaluated their influence by using metrics in four major areas: economic power, command, newsworthiness, and impact — a subjective measure that captures how important they are in their respective positions.

We’ve gathered a team of experts of the racing business for this occasion: after a lot of research, the team sent an online survey for motorsport professionals, and then tweaked the final results.

McLaren Racing and Arrow Electronics, the global technology and innovation business, today announced a long-term multi-year partnership extension which will see Arrow continue to support McLaren in its drive to achieve success with the McLaren Formula 1 and Arrow McLaren SP IndyCar teams. The company will continue as title sponsor of Arrow McLaren SP, while it continues as a partner of the McLaren F1 team.

Since 2019, the partnership between Arrow Electronics and McLaren Racing has enabled the two organisations to put a shared belief in technology and innovation at the centre of a joint commitment to drive progress and bring services and solutions to the team and their respective networks.

Today’s news follows the announcement in August that McLaren Racing was acquiring a majority stake in Arrow McLaren SP. Through a hard way you can reach the stars, and that’s what happened to me. I was born in a multi-ethnical-religious country that doesn’t exist anymore called Yugoslavia. And I lived my adolescent life in a state of war much worse than what we experienced during the COVID 19 pandemic. Our country was under sanctions, things disappeared from our grocery stores, but all this built my character today. In the 90s I wasn’t able to travel, I was illegal in Europe and I know how it is to be invisible. So global fame isn’t something important to me, it’s just that I get to meet people from all over the world.

The event was the first meeting for the Japanese motorsport stars, who both moved from their homeland to Italian shores in search of world championship success. The day also included a tour of the Scuderia AlphaTauri factory, with Tsunoda giving his countryman a rare insight into the world of Formula One.

In the 2021 Formula One season, 21-year-old Tsunoda became the first Japanese driver to score points on his debut and has re-signed to race again with Scuderia AlphaTauri in 2022. Meanwhile, 29-year-old Nakagami is in his fourth MotoGP season and will aim to secure his eighth successive points finish this weekend.

Despite growing up just two hours apart from each other around the Tokyo region in Japan, this was the first meeting between Tsunoda (Kanagawa Prefecture) and Nakagami (Chiba Prefecture).

The Halo was tested extensively at Cranfield Impact Centre during its development, overseen by the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile), prior to its adoption, and the issue of driver protection in motorsport has been investigated in a number of Motorsport MSc projects at Cranfield over the years.

Clive Temple said: “Hamilton was not lucky – it is a fact that engineering and science underpin all of this work which ensures drivers are safe. Safety is the primary concern in motorsport.

“The Halo was introduced in 2018 and proved its worth in that season when Charles Leclerc, who was then driving for Alfa Romeo, was protected from Alonso’s flying McLaren. We also had the Grosjean fireball incident in November 2020 and again the Halo came to the fore there along with other safety measures such as the deformable nose cone protection, in-helmet safety system and the barrier, itself.

Daren, how do you feel when you witness the public’s reaction to your works?

I’ve been lucky that when I travel, I see that all over the world. Someone in Morocco or Russia would be talking about an American show, written for an American audience, that transcends place and geographical barriers.

Next season I will be embarking on my sixth year in Formula One, alongside my team-mate Sebastian. We started this Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team campaign together and I greatly look forward to continuing the journey with him next year. We have not achieved what we set out to do this year, but that has only amplified our hunger and drive for success next season. Now, with the prestige and support of Aston Martin, and the brilliant new sponsor-partners that such a prestigious brand has attracted, we are well-positioned to improve our performance in 2022.

Among the special features on display at Minardi Day 2021, which really aroused considerable interest among the fans attending the event, was a wonderful series of Formula 1 models in scale made with LEGO bricks. I immediately noticed the care and precision with which they were made but, above all, the great diversity compared to what is normally found on the market.
