The Ferrari Daytona SP3 – most beautiful supercar 2022

The Ferrari Daytona SP3 has been awarded the “Grand Prize: Most Beautiful Supercar 2022” by a panel of expert judges at the 37th Paris Festival Automobile International.

This prestigious annual award is held to pay tribute to the sports car chosen by a panel of influential personalities from the world of motoring for its design and aesthetic beauty.

The same jury awarded Ferrari’s Chief Design Officer, Flavio Manzoni, with the Grand Prize of Design, in recognition of his original, creative and influential work in the automotive sector.

The design of the Ferrari Daytona SP3, a limited-edition car that joins the ‘Icona’ series, is a harmonious interplay of contrasts, sublimely sculptural, voluptuous surfaces alternating with the kind of sharper lines that revealed the burgeoning importance of aerodynamics in the design of the ‘60s and ‘70s racers such as the 330 P4, 350 Can-Am and 512 S. The bold choice of a ‘Targa’ body with a removable hardtop was also inspired by the sports prototype world: consequently, the Ferrari Daytona SP3 not only delivers exhilarating driving pleasure but also usable performance.

Ferrari Fiorano test for Carlos and Charles

On the second of three days of the Fiorano test, race drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc were at the wheel of the SF71H. Shortly after 9.30 in the morning, the Spaniard drove out of the garage in far from ideal conditions, with the temperature at 3 degrees and damp patches on the track. He completed 59 laps, equivalent to around 176 kilometres, getting back in the swing of driving a Formula 1 car and working with the team again.

“Exactly one year ago, I drove a Ferrari for the first time,” recalled Carlos, once he’d finished driving. “And I have to say that, even if a lot of things have changed, given that I now know everyone and I feel really at home, driving here is always special. I was very happy to see so many of our fans watching from outside the track, which is why I wanted to go and say hello to them when I’d finished my session.”

Restart. The Spaniard also explained the purpose of this type of test prior to the start of the season. “At the moment, like all the other drivers, in fact, we are working in the simulator or training really hard in the gym. However, when it comes to demands placed on the body, nothing can match actually being in the car. That’s why, being able to drive before the start of the season, no matter in what car, is always very useful for a driver. It gives your body a wake-up call, reminding you what it means to be a Formula 1 driver.”

Charles in the afternoon. At 2 pm, straight after lunch, Charles Leclerc was behind the wheel of the SF71H. On the eve of his fourth season with the Scuderia, in the cockpit 44 days on from the post-season test in Abu Dhabi, he covered 48 laps, equivalent to 143 kilometres. Charles also got a very enthusiastic reception from the fans when he went to greet them. “Our supporters are special,” he said. “It’s really cold today, but they didn’t want to miss out on this first event of the new season. At least I had the engine to keep me warm, but they are really fantastic!”

What incidents happen to marshals during the race

There have been several recent incidents involving brave guys among the marshals. The FIA was already very much concerned about the safety of anything and everything to do with Formula 1 rounds, but dangerous situations still occurred from time to time.

Click here to subscribe to our print edition!

A quick note on what marshals do on the track. Marshals are divided into five main types:

Flag marshals signal to drivers on the track using flagsPit marshals supervise order in the pit lane, and for example, if drivers are taking penaltiesGrid marshals keep order on the starting lane, manage access to it, and control the order of the formation of cars.Track marshals are found along the track’s perimeter; their job is to eliminate incidents.Fire marshals are professional firefighters at the track perimeter.

On each round of Formula 1, there are cumulatively up to 1500 marshals, who are not paid by the championship management; it is purely a volunteer job. They get free meals and the excitement of being in the thick of it. Every race is a new experience, especially when you can be a part of the event, and make a bet on it, checking the review on https://bookmaker-ratings.com/review/fastbet-bookmaker-review-rules-support-sign-up-free-bets-site/ beforehand.

Track marshals have the most dangerous job because they have to appear on track more often than others: crashes, traffic jams, evacuating cars, removing wreckage, cleaning track from gravel – all this is their responsibility. Usually, the race does not stop when necessary to remove, for example, the destruction left by accident – the cars continue behind the safety car, i.e., at a reduced speed, but in the vicinity of the track marshals. In essence, they risk their health and even their lives at every round. Still, as a rule, people who are passionate about something and in love with something rarely stop at such trifles. For many Formula 1 is a passion, and working as a stage marshal is an opportunity to become part of the grand celebration of F1.

George Russell’s path to Mercedes and what awaits him

From time to time, in the Formula 1 championship appears a driver who, from the very beginning of his career, leaves no doubt that he is a rare and special talent. George Russell is one of them.

Click here to subscribe to our print edition!

So far, only on paper, he is more talented than his peers. This is only because, during the transfer from the younger series, George ended up in Williams, where there is no point even floundering. All that can be achieved is to become the best among the worst, even though Williams was looking pretty good in the previous season. George was patient and waited for his star moment and in this season he will become a Mercedes driver. But was Russell’s path easy to the seven-time world champion’s team? And what will await him there?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

George’s path to the world of royal racing ran through traditional karting, followed by a series of single-seaters. He won the Formula-4 championship at the age of 16, at 19 he became the GP3 champion, and already at 20 also won the F2 championship. All titles were taken on the first attempt. It looks like a fairy tale. It is not surprising that at the first opportunity Russell was invited to Formula 1. On this, George’s career comes to a standstill for three long years.
