Haas F1 Team reveals VF-22 car

With 2022 finally seeing a new set of regulations dramatically changing the way Formula 1 cars look, and race, coming into play – Uralkali Haas F1 Team today unveiled the design and livery of its brand-new VF-22 challenger. Revealed across the team’s social media channels, the series of digital renders released on Friday showcase the car that Uralkali Haas F1 Team drivers Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher will compete with across the record-breaking 23-race 2022 FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

The VF-22 is the first entry to emerge from the American-owned team’s all-new design office in Maranello, Italy – led by Technical Director Simone Resta. Bringing together a new personnel group and weaving it into the existing fabric of the team, now entering its seventh season in Formula 1, was just one of many challenges tackled through 2021 culminating in the design of the VF-22 – a car that has its genesis in a completely new set of regulations.

With the 2022 regulations designed to promote closer racing, and therefore more overtaking and excitement, the aerodynamics of the VF-22 are strikingly different to anything is seen previously. New items have been incorporated to achieve the goal of the regulations such as a ground-effect floor, simplified front-wing, and a dramatically shaped rear-wing. Another striking new addition is the introduction of Pirelli’s 18-inch wheel rims and low-profile tires – designed to reduce overheating and allow drivers to push more on each stint. The VF-22 will be powered by the Ferrari 066/7 turbocharged 1.6-litre V6 power-unit running on fuel containing a 10% biocomponent ratio achieved through a move to ‘E10’ fuel.

While the design of the VF-22 is dramatically different, the livery of the new entry is an evolution of last year’s predominantly white design which coincided with the arrival of title partner Uralkali – one of the world’s largest potash fertilizer producers and exporters. Haas Automation maintains its branding presence on the VF-22, the global CNC machine tool company founded by team owner Gene Haas. A burgeoning partner portfolio is further incorporated into the livery with on-car branding supported by 1&1, IONOS, Tricorp, Under Armour and CYRUS Genève, while Taittinger and Maui Jim continue to feature on a variety of key team assets.

Max Verstappen’s Winter break in the Austrian Alps

F1 World Champion takes F1 car for a spin on a track built out of ice in the Austrian Alps. FIA Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen enjoyed his first track action of 2022 in an alpine day out with Austrian ice speedway star Franky Zorn.

In a spectacular prelude to Verstappen’s 2022 season, he took to the track with former European Ice Racing Champion Zorn, 51, in the driving exhibition hosted by the GP Ice Race circuit at Zell am See Airport.  Under Austria’s winter sunshine, the Dutch hero savoured being back in a race car for his first laps since winning the F1 Drivers’ Championship at Abu Dhabi in December, while Zorn popped wheelies and slung his motorcycle to extreme angles around the curves.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Although he’d never driven an F1 car on ice before, the Red Bull Racing driver sped through a circuit built out of ice on specially designed Pirelli spiked tyres, with his helmet and race car carrying the number ‘1’ for the very first time. He went on to say: “This was my first time on the ice with a Formula One car and I’ve been really looking forward to it. It was very interesting and it’s quite slippery, so you have to be careful. Everything is very cold, including the brakes, and racing cars are obviously not designed to drive on the ice, which makes it even more difficult, but it was a lot of fun.”

At just 24 years of age, Verstappen took the F1 world by storm in 2021 as he claimed 10 wins and a further eight podiums from 22 races. In doing so, he became Red Bull Racing’s first champion driver since Sebastien Vettel captured his fourth successive title in 2013. Verstappen had driven car #33 since 2015, so seeing #1 on his livery for the first time was a special moment.

Many cohabiting couples don’t realise that if they fail to plan financially, their assets could be divided equally between them should they break up.

A lawyer who specialises in family law can help protect unmarried couples. These documents outline the couple’s assets and financial responsibilities while together and upon dissolution of the relationship.

What Is A Civil Partnership?

Civil partnerships in the UK give same-sex couples, who could previously only enter into a marriage, almost exactly the same rights and responsibilities as married couples. According to Pearce Legal who is based in Solihull UK, “Roughly 46,000 civil partnerships (13% of all existing ones) have been converted to marriages since December 2005 when they became legal for heterosexual and homosexual couples.”

The Ferrari Daytona SP3 – most beautiful supercar 2022

The Ferrari Daytona SP3 has been awarded the “Grand Prize: Most Beautiful Supercar 2022” by a panel of expert judges at the 37th Paris Festival Automobile International.

Click here to subscribe to our print edition!

This prestigious annual award is held to pay tribute to the sports car chosen by a panel of influential personalities from the world of motoring for its design and aesthetic beauty.

The same jury awarded Ferrari’s Chief Design Officer, Flavio Manzoni, with the Grand Prize of Design, in recognition of his original, creative and influential work in the automotive sector.

The design of the Ferrari Daytona SP3, a limited-edition car that joins the ‘Icona’ series, is a harmonious interplay of contrasts, sublimely sculptural, voluptuous surfaces alternating with the kind of sharper lines that revealed the burgeoning importance of aerodynamics in the design of the ‘60s and ‘70s racers such as the 330 P4, 350 Can-Am and 512 S. The bold choice of a ‘Targa’ body with a removable hardtop was also inspired by the sports prototype world: consequently, the Ferrari Daytona SP3 not only delivers exhilarating driving pleasure but also usable performance.

Ferrari Fiorano test for Carlos and Charles

On the second of three days of the Fiorano test, race drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc were at the wheel of the SF71H. Shortly after 9.30 in the morning, the Spaniard drove out of the garage in far from ideal conditions, with the temperature at 3 degrees and damp patches on the track. He completed 59 laps, equivalent to around 176 kilometres, getting back in the swing of driving a Formula 1 car and working with the team again.

“Exactly one year ago, I drove a Ferrari for the first time,” recalled Carlos, once he’d finished driving. “And I have to say that, even if a lot of things have changed, given that I now know everyone and I feel really at home, driving here is always special. I was very happy to see so many of our fans watching from outside the track, which is why I wanted to go and say hello to them when I’d finished my session.”

Restart. The Spaniard also explained the purpose of this type of test prior to the start of the season. “At the moment, like all the other drivers, in fact, we are working in the simulator or training really hard in the gym. However, when it comes to demands placed on the body, nothing can match actually being in the car. That’s why, being able to drive before the start of the season, no matter in what car, is always very useful for a driver. It gives your body a wake-up call, reminding you what it means to be a Formula 1 driver.”

Charles in the afternoon. At 2 pm, straight after lunch, Charles Leclerc was behind the wheel of the SF71H. On the eve of his fourth season with the Scuderia, in the cockpit 44 days on from the post-season test in Abu Dhabi, he covered 48 laps, equivalent to 143 kilometres. Charles also got a very enthusiastic reception from the fans when he went to greet them. “Our supporters are special,” he said. “It’s really cold today, but they didn’t want to miss out on this first event of the new season. At least I had the engine to keep me warm, but they are really fantastic!”
