A capacity crowd descended on Albert Park, Melbourne hosting its first Australian Grand Prix in 1,100 days. After action-packed free practice and qualifying sessions, they were treated to another thrilling show on Sunday afternoon.

The driver of The Day Leclerc kept his rival Verstappen at bay through two Safety Cars – the first when teammate Carlos Sainz spun out from P14 on Lap 2, and the second on Lap 23 after Sebastian Vettel’s crash. The threat dissolved on Lap 39 when Verstappen stopped with his engine on fire, allowing the Ferrari driver to cruise to victory over Perez with the fastest lap to boot.

My Race Day: Pierre Guyonnet-Dupérat

Communications Director of the French Grand Prix, Pierre Guyonnet-Dupérat shares his typical Sunday of a Formula 1 GP event. Pierre worked as a Deputy Media Delegate at FIA earlier and he is definitely a considerable person in Formula 1 when it comes to marketing and communications. Let’s see how his typical race day looks like!

Basically, we have a short meeting every morning of a Grand Prix weekend, where we talk through the most important points of the day before and we clarify the to-dos for the day ahead of us. I have three teams as a Communications director, so I work with the communications team, the media centre team and the digital team for social media activities.

After all these meetings, generally, the race day is a bit more relaxed for us. Another important task of mine is to go to the grid with all of our important guests during the weekend. It’s really important to take care of everyone, just to make sure everything goes right. I also take care of influencers in the paddock as sometimes they have specific requests.

When I listen to the national anthem, see all the people on the grandstands and see the jet fly over with the national flag of France – it’s just an indescribable feeling.

Tilke – You need to deliver on time with perfect quality

Racing, engineering, passion and commitment. Four simple words to describe Tilke Engineers & Architects, which was established back in 1983. We can’t find a single person around Formula 1 who doesn’t know the name Tilke.

Hermann Tilke has designed numerous Formula 1 tracks recently and his first completed project was the A1-Ring (called Red Bull ring) in 1999. In 2017, Carsten Tilke – Hermann’s son became Managing Director of the company and since then they lead Tilke Engineers & Architects together as co-managers. We at Paddock Magazine had the chance to have an extensive and captivating chat with both of them.

Hermann, I think not many people know that you used to be a racing driver. Could you tell us how you fell in love with racing and motorsports overall?

HT: It all started when I was 17 years old and my uncle took me to the Nürburgring for a touring car event. We went there as spectators, and as soon as we arrived at the track, I knew that this is what I wanted to do. A year later I got my driving licence as well, but you can imagine, it was a whole lot different back then – the cars were nowhere as developed as nowadays.

What about you, Carsten?

4 essential tips to ensure your truck runs smoothly

Like most things in life, a truck will produce what you put in. People who depend on their trucks every day need to offer a little bit of care and maintenance. Different models and make of trucks need unique needs. However, you need to apply some simple maintenance to keep your truck running smoothly.

Always talk to the manufacturer or owner’s manual when you want to do something with your vehicle, like jump starting heavy-duty vehicles, to avoid poor maintenance practices. Below are some tips that will keep your truck in good shape while on the road.

Trucks are serious investments. Therefore, you need to do everything you can to keep them in good working condition.

Change oil regularly

This is not an easy task but an essential thing you can do to your truck to extend its service life. Different trucks have different recommendations on when to change the oil. However, you should regularly change your oil and oil filters, especially for higher mileage trucks.

The market has a wide range of oil options to keep the older engine running smoothly and for a few more years. So, consult the owner’s manual to ensure you have the right oil viscosity index for the truck.

2022 Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix highlights

Introduction

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won an epic battle over Charles Leclerc at the 2022 Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with Carlos Sainz completing the podium behind his Ferrari teammate – as pole-sitter, Sergio Perez had to settle for fourth after pitting just before a pivotal Safety Car.

Perez led until Lap 16 when a flash of Ferrari mechanics perhaps triggered Red Bull into an early pit stop. That proved to be unfortunate; Williams’ Nicholas Latifi crashed at the final corner on the next lap and triggered a VSC then Safety Car, with Leclerc, Verstappen and Sainz capitalising.

The Mexican was set to restart third on Lap 21 when the Safety Car retreated but was found to have passed Sainz as the Spaniard exited the pits alongside the Red Bull during the caution period, leaving the pole-sitter fourth.

Who will be the star of Formula One in 2022?

In 2021 F1 fans were treated to a great title battle between Hamilton and Verstappen, while Gasly and Norris lit up the midfield. But who will be the star of the show in 2022?

Leclerc and Verstappen

The mood music of pre-season testing had Red Bull top with Ferrari right behind and Mercedes just a bit further back. This was pretty accurate, but in both qualifying and the race, the triumph was set to go to the Prancing Horse. Leclerc drove flawlessly to regain the lead twice when Verstappen passed him after pitting, and the Ferrari proved more reliable as both Red Bulls (and Gasly’s AlphaTauri, which uses the same engine) suffered terminal reliability failures. Sainz was there to collect 2nd, making it a perfect 1-2. And their chief rival scored no points at all.

But an F1 season these days stretches close to two dozen races, and one result, however good, is not enough to say everything’s done and dusted. Red Bull must urgently sort out their reliability failures, which came as something of a surprise late on but perhaps should not have. With new cars under very different regulations, it’s to be expected that some have sailed too close to the wind and have parts that aren’t quite up to the task in race trim. There were parts of the circuit where the Red Bull was significantly faster than the Ferrari (and vice versa). In terms of pace, the lead drivers of Ferrari and Red Bull were very closely matched indeed but reliability was the telling difference. If Red Bull can pull ahead in development then the reduced loss of downforce due to new regulations will make passing on-track, and overturning a points deficit in the title race, that much easier.

Failures determining title victors have been the case before. Raikkonen could have won multiple titles with McLaren but reliability failings, and shocking bad luck in this regard was the only reason Hamilton lost out to his teammate Rosberg in 2016. Right now, early days though it is, the season looks like being a Leclerc versus Verstappen battle. And the Monegasque is looking pretty good.

Formula 1 has seen some stunning long shots come off over the years, including Perez’s astonishing 60/1 victory in the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix. However, for F1 fans who prefer slots then here is the latest and up-to-date list of the UK no deposit bonus codes for risk-free betting. Essential 4×4 accessories to outfit your off-roader with

Outfitting your 4×4 for the Australian outback can be one of the most exciting things you get to do. That is, as long as you know what you need and understand what you need to look for. Otherwise, it can be a stressful, time- and money-consuming endeavour. On top of that, if you get things wrong, you risk having a mishap while out on the road, and that can completely turn you off from off-roading.

If you’re doubtful and uncertain about which 4×4 accessories for sale you need to look for – worry not. This article will cover the most essential accessories and explain what exactly makes them essential. Without further ado, let’s dive into it.

Bull Bars

Bull bars are the most sought-after 4×4 accessories, for multiple reasons. First and foremost, they provide much-needed protection for your vehicle’s front-end from upcoming animals, debris, and other hard objects you may come across while driving across the Australian outback or wilderness. If you’ve never been off-roading, you probably don’t know just how frequent run-ups with ‘roos can be. While most of them will stay out of your way, you may come across a curious bunch that are eager to come and say hi, resulting in a completely wrecked vehicle.

However, not all bull bars are not equal. These differences are not just in terms of size and shape, but also material and features. Here’s all there is to know about bull bars.

Aluminium vs Steel

Bull bars meant for off-roading are generally built using steel or aluminium. Aluminium bull bars are the more expensive option, but they’re also lighter in weight. Their lightweight makes it so your vehicle doesn’t spend as much fuel, which is quite important when travelling long distances.
