UNICEF and Formula 1 to raise money at the British Grand Prix

Facebook Twitter LinkedInReddit Email

Formula 1 and Official Charity Partner UNICEF are fundraising at this weekend’s British Grand Prix to help the world’s most vulnerable children access quality education and aid UNICEF’s humanitarian response around the world.

(function($){ $(window).on("resize", function(){ var sid = "35"; var object = $(".bsaProContainer-" + sid + " .bsaProItemInner__img"); var animateThumb = $(".bsaProContainer-" + sid + " .bsaProAnimateThumb"); var innerThumb = $(".bsaProContainer-" + sid + " .bsaProItemInner__thumb"); var parentWidth = "970"; var parentHeight = "250"; var objectWidth = object.width(); if ( objectWidth < parentWidth ) { var scale = objectWidth / parentWidth; if ( objectWidth > 0 && objectWidth != 100 && scale > 0 ) { animateThumb.height(parentHeight * scale); innerThumb.height(parentHeight * scale); object.height(parentHeight * scale); } else { animateThumb.height(parentHeight); innerThumb.height(parentHeight); object.height(parentHeight); } } else { animateThumb.height(parentHeight); innerThumb.height(parentHeight); object.height(parentHeight); } }); $(document).ready(function(){ $(".bsaProItemInner__img").trigger("resize"); }); })(jQuery);

Over the next three years, it is estimated that the partnership between Formula 1 and UNICEF, which was announced earlier this year, could help 6.5 million children from vulnerable and marginalised communities access quality education, including in key areas such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), and enable UNICEF to provide temporary learning places for children in emergencies.

This weekend, fans at Silverstone will have the chance to show their support for this important cause, with UNICEF volunteers stationed throughout the Fan Zone and Paddock to collect donations. Fans can also donate by visiting the UNICEF website or by scanning the QR code on one of the interactive donation posters in the Fan Zone and Paddock or via the fundraising video that will be played on the big screens at Silverstone over the Grand Prix weekend.

UNICEF’s State of Global Learning Poverty 2022 update estimates that in 2022, 70 per cent of the world’s 10-year-olds lacked basic literacy skills. Limited access to the internet and digital devices, an issue exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, has widened inequalities and the digital divide. Those from disadvantaged backgrounds were less likely than their peers to have access to the internet to be able to continue their learning.

From Promising Start to Bankruptcy: A Closer Look at the Challenges Faced by W Series

Facebook Twitter LinkedInReddit Email

W Series, the first international women’s racing series in motorsport history, has gone into administration as all attempts to find new investors have failed and due to financial difficulties in the W Series championship, the 2022 season ended ahead of schedule. The new administration announced that the W Series season would not be launched in 2023 due to liquidity problems. Let’s try to understand what happened to the women’s championship, declared loudly in 2019.

The history of the world’s first racing series exclusively for female drivers has ended. The W Series championship has been declared bankrupt and has gone into administration. Kevin Ley and Henry Shinners of Evelyn Partners LLP have been appointed Joint Administrators of the Series.

Modern motorsport embodies entertainment and commerce, driven by the imperative to generate revenue. The idea that motorsport should focus on the female gender gave rise to the W Series — the female equivalent of Formula 1. However, the problems started in the first season and have reached their apex. With the departure of the sponsor, the 2022 season was abruptly halted, with the final three stages, originally scheduled for October in the United States and Mexico, being cancelled. Despite assurances from organisers to resolve these matters promptly, their promises remained unfulfilled by the current moment of the current year.

Negotiations with potential investors on a possible rescue of W Series continued for eight months, but they were unsuccessful.

Back in the May issue of the «Formula for Success» podcast, David Coulthard, one of the shareholders of W Series, accused potential investors of not fulfilling their promises: “I tried to help the founders of the series, and most of all I was upset that with all the efforts they made and the money they spent, there were many companies that invest in motorsport, but their rants about the need to promote diversity and inclusivity have remained conversations.”

How proper documentation can support your car crash claim

Facebook Twitter LinkedInReddit Email

Being in a car crash can be one of the most challenging and overwhelming experiences a person ever goes through. Not only is it emotionally draining, but there is often the additional stressor of making sure you receive adequate compensation for your injuries due to negligence on behalf of another driver. That’s why proper documentation is vital when filing a car crash claim – and we’re here to help you understand how!

In this blog post, we will explore the intricacies of documenting your car crash and what pieces of evidence will strengthen your case.  We’ll also provide insights as to exactly how this process works so that you feel fully informed throughout the entire procedure.

Why Documentation is Vital for Your Car Crash Claim

If you have experienced a car crash, you understand the chaotic and stressful nature of such incidents. Amidst the chaos, it is common to overlook proper documentation, but neglecting this crucial step may result in missing out on entitled compensation. Documentation plays a vital role in ensuring a successful outcome for car accident cases as it provides substantial evidence to support your claim. This involves gathering information about the other driver(s), capturing photographs of the vehicle damage, and obtaining witness statements. By having well-documented evidence to substantiate your case, your chances of achieving a favourable resolution significantly increase.

What Documents Should You Collect After a Car Accident

Car accidents can be extremely stressful and overwhelming, leaving you in a state of shock and confusion. It’s important to remain composed and collect the necessary documents at the scene of the accident in order to ensure a smoother claims process and protect your rights in the event of a lawsuit. First and foremost, you should gather the other driver’s contact and insurance information, as well as the names and contact information of any witnesses. You should also take photos of the scene and any damages to both vehicles. If the police are called, make sure to obtain a copy of the police report. Additionally, be sure to keep any medical reports and bills related to injuries sustained in the accident.

How to Store and Secure Your Documents

In this digital era, it’s essential to keep your important documents secure. We all have those valuable records that we don’t want to lose track of, and storage is one of the most critical aspects of document management. Storing documents physically or electronically depends on what works best for your needs, but it’s critical to have them safe and secure. Keeping them in a safe place or locked cabinet is an option for physical storage, while using password-protected file storage is an option for electronic storage. It’s vital to take precautions to withstand any potential danger or theft, and organizing and backup your documents is also necessary. Keep in mind that safely storing and securing your documents can save you hours of stress and worries in the long run.

Where are they now: Kimi Räikkönen

Facebook Twitter LinkedInReddit Email

Kimi Räikkönen ended his Formula 1 career at the end of 2021 after 19 seasons, 350 Grands Prix, 21 wins and 103 podiums. The world of motorsport is so used to the Finnish driver that it was even difficult to imagine the championship without him. But it’s already the second season since Kimi, who mentioned in an interview that he was only glad that this period of his life was finally over, has not performed in F1. Let’s see what the racer does and where Kimi Räikkönen is now.

NASCAR

Kimi Räikkönen made his debut in NASCAR back in 2011. And in 2022, the NASCAR Trackhouse Racing team showed the car’s livery on which the driver would have raced in the NASCAR Cup Series championship at the Watkins Glen stage in August. The former Formula 1 driver said the following statement about this news:

“After my debut in 2011, I have repeatedly said that I enjoyed racing in NASCAR. These are old-school races, and modern motorsport’s general stages are unlike anything else. The atmosphere there is relaxed. And it’s also great that the new cars are more like GT and equipped with a sequential gearbox. Trackhouse Racing hoped that I would run two or three races this year, but in the end, we settled on one.”

Räikkönen performed very well in the race. However, he encountered an unfortunate incident involving multiple cars at the onset of the third leg. Initially, Kimi maintained a position in the Top 10 during a significant portion of the second segment. Then after the pit stop, he lost several places but managed to regain some ground following the pit stops of the leading drivers. Unfortunately for the Finn, his race ended prematurely on lap 46 due to an off-track excursion resulting in a collision with the barrier.

F1 has announced the 2024 Formula 1 calendar, approved by the World Motor Sport Council. The calendar features 24 races, beginning in Bahrain on March 2 and finishing in Abu Dhabi on December 8.

Formula 1 has made clear its intention to move towards greater calendar regionalisation, reducing logistical burdens and making the season more sustainable.

By moving Japan to April, Azerbaijan to September and Qatar back-to-back with Abu Dhabi, this calendar creates a better flow of races in certain regions, and this work will continue while being realistic to the fact that as a world championship, with climatic and contractual constraints, there will always be travel required that cannot be completely regionalised.

For the opening two races of the season in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the Grand Prix will take place on a Saturday. This decision has been taken to accommodate Ramadan.

‘I need to do better’ – Exclusive interview with Nyck de Vries

Facebook Twitter LinkedInReddit Email
Nyck de Vries made an anstonishing debut in Formula 1 last year at the Italian GP, after Alex Albon was diagnosed with appendicitis and taken to hospital for surgery. De Vries scored two points, which equals Williams’ best result of the season. Alpha Tauri driver Nyck de Vries speaks exclusively to Paddock Magazine ahead of the Austrian GP in Spielberg.

You had a fantastic debut with Williams last year, finishing P9 and being voted driver of the day. Do you think this achievement resulted in unrealistic expectations?

Well, that’s an excellent question… Actually, there are always expectations in life, regardless of what you do. As we live in a competitive industry, we always need to perform. Perhaps, that race set the expectations even higher. However, I have no regrets because I wouldn’t be here today without that race in Italy. That’s how things go; normally, the expectations are very high in this category.

Obviously, there are some rumours concerning your future in the team. How could you evaluate your performance so far this year?

I’m unsatisfied with what I’ve shown on the track. I need to do better, for sure. There were moments when I put on a great performance. For example, the race weekend in Barcelona was good if you look at it as a whole. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to score points. It was a shame that I spun twice and lost two sets of tyres in Q1. However, I still managed to get to Q2 after finishing the first part of qualifying in eighth position. It was a weekend where I should’ve scored points. I also missed some opportunities at other race weekends. That’s how it is; that’s life. You win, you lose, and you have good and bad weekends. I try to do better, and that’s it. I need to do my best all the time.

I need to do better.

Nyck de Vries

You race alongside Yuki Tsunoda, who has more experience in F1. What is the teamwork like with him?

We have a great mutual respect for each other. We’ve known each other for a few years. On the other hand, good relationships don’t happen overnight. We’re different characters, and I’m in a different stage in my life and career. We greatly respect each other; he’s a good guy and a very talented driver. He performs very consistently, and he’s swift. He’s shown a pretty strong performance this year.

As e explained by experienced personal injury lawyers from Perecman law firm, these unfortunate events can range from car accidents and slips and falls to medical malpractice and workplace injuries. The consequences of such injuries can be devastating, affecting physical health, emotional well-being, and financial stability.
