The Liverpool team was ready to play and win, but they were already awarded the first penalty in the game in the second minute of the match. A clumsy foul by Gilly Flaherty against Guro Reiten in the box resulted in the referee awarding a penalty, which Fran Kirby converted accurately. It was her first goal for Chelsea since February this year.

On the contrary, Chelsea did not use their opportunities. The team could have scored another goal in the 20th minute of the game, but Kerr hurried with acceleration and was offside. As a result, the goal was cancelled. It was a controversial moment, but unfortunately for the Chelsea team, the referee decided not to count this goal.

But it is also worth noting that Chelsea missed their chances of scoring against the opponent many times. In particular, the causer was striker Sam Kerr, who did not play her best match, according to the team manager.

Chelsea continued to miss their goalscoring opportunities. As a result, the team lost 6 goalscoring opportunities, 4 times the players missed the target, and another 2 Liverpool were saved by the goalkeeper.

The beginning of the second half for Liverpool was quite tragic because after Buchanan made a tackle, Leanne Kiernan was injured due to a bad landing. Doctors helped the player to leave the field, and she could not continue the game.

While Flaherty was able to rehabilitate after her foul, which led to a penalty, after a cross, Campbell Flaherty hit the ball to Bright’s hand, for which Chelsea got a handball foul, and Liverpool took a penalty. The debutant in the Stengel league struck an 11-meter kick, which she scored with ease.

At the end of the game, Stengel scored another goal from the penalty spot. This time Chelsea debutant Kadeisha Buchanan fouled in the penalty area. Stengel was able to put her team ahead with a score of 2-1. However, despite Chelsea looking much better in terms of game and statistics, they failed to fight back and win against Liverpool.

As mentioned earlier, although Liverpool looked frankly weaker than the opponent, in the second half of the game, the team managed to equalize and even beat Chelsea 2-1.

As a result, Chelsea Women suffered a painful defeat in the Women’s Super League’s first game of the season.

But in turn, Chelsea hopes to bounce back and show a decent result in the next game against Manchester City, which will be held on 25 September in Kingsmeadow.

It is also worth noting that the team’s game was watched by a record number of fans, which amounted to 3006 people. This is an absolute record for Liverpool Women’s outdoor home stadium.
