At the illustrious Grimaldi Forum in the principality of Monaco, we met with American actor David Hasselhoff, who is a truly lover of Formula 1 and occasionally shows up at race weekends.
David, how was it playing yourself on the new show Ze Network?
To be honest, the easiest yet most complicated role I have ever done.
What is a perception of David Hasselhoff that people see and that you want to change?
People mostly remember me for David from Baywatch or Knight Rider, I get it all the time, every day and moment. They want my signature or photo, but I want to change that. I want to say that even on Baywatch I was a real actor on set before playing the Mitch Buchannon character.
A special memory from Baywatch or Knight Rider?
Knight Rider was the best job ever because I got to play in an action movie and with stuntmen. For Baywatch it has to be working with Jeremy Jackson he was a great friend. I had to push for him to be on that show by the way.
What are your thoughts about TV series production nowadays?
The ideas are getting bigger. The rhythm is crazy, sometimes we don’t have any pre-rehearsals.
Funny moment with a fan?
When a fan approached me to take a photo and she had no camera. I didn’t know what to do! In Norway while I was filming a show, they kept calling my name Hoff for 10 continuous minutes. It was a hilarious yet touching moment.
What motivates you to keep going?
I get bored quite easily and I like to work. Being at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival to me is something very interesting to be able to promote my work, meet with fans and journalists.
