Oliver Rowland: “We just need to make sure our consistency matches our pace”

Oliver Rowland feels the Nissan e.dams team are beginning to find the kind of performance levels they have been looking for, with his pole position and podium in the Puebla E-Prix three weeks ago proof the team are on the right track.

Rowland says the performance in Mexico has given the team confidence, and they will be looking to build on that potential in this weekend’s double header around the Brooklyn Street Circuit in New York City.

And the British racer says it is clear that Nissan’s Gen2 powertrain is proving to be fast, and once they find consistency, they should be confident of fighting at the front of the field in every race.

“It was great to get our first pole position and podium of season seven in Mexico, and it feels like we are beginning to build speed and confidence with every race now,” said Rowland.  “Our new Nissan Gen2 powertrain is clearly fast, and I am working well with the car and my engineers.

“We just need to make sure our consistency matches our pace and the results will come. I’m really excited to race again in New York City.”

“The race results are not what we would want or expect” – Sébastien Buemi

For former Formula E champion Sébastien Buemi, the 2020-21 season has been one of many disappointments, with the Swiss sitting a very lowly twenty-second in the standings with only two top ten finishes to his name.

Buemi admits he has been struggling to unlock the potential of his car, and he feels the pace seen in Qualifying in Puebla was a good sign.  However, his race pace was not as strong, and he is continuing to work with his engineers to further improve ahead of this weekend’s double header in Brooklyn.

“My P7 in qualifying in Mexico shows some improvement in our pace, but the race results are not what we would want or expect,” admits Buemi.

“I’m working hard with the team and my engineers to understand how to unlock the performance we know the car has, and I’ll be using all my racing experience and knowledge of this great Brooklyn track to score points this weekend.”
