Roberto Merhi also competed in the GT World Challenge Australia and the S5000 Tasman Series, Super GT. In a surprising move, he returned to single-seater racing, debuting in Formula 2 in 2023. Not stopping there, the Spaniard also made his mark in the world of electric racing, debuting in Formula E. We had the opportunity to meet Roberto during the Chinese Grand Prix, where he shared his Fantasy F1 Team with us.

Drivers

For sure, the drivers in my Fantasy F1 Team will be Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz Jr. I think Carlos is a very clever driver, and he helps the team develop a lot. As you can see, he constantly improves the car every time he goes. He’s a guy who is strong for that, and he’s a guy who improves every year from his being in Formula One. And then Max is now at his highest level. He’s swift and very aggressive. The combination of their skills and their ability to contribute to the team’s development is the best combination you can have.

Designer

Adrian Newey. He’s the best one right now and making the fastest cars in the last few years of Formula One.

Team Owner

I would put Carlos Sainz Sr. at the top as a team owner. His wealth of knowledge and experience in the sport make him an invaluable asset. He’s a man who pushes very hard all the time, and his dedication and understanding of the sport’s intricacies make him an ideal team owner.

Team Principal

I myself [Laughs]. I have enough experience, and I know how to control the drivers. I also understand what makes a sound engineer and what makes a lousy engineer.

Car

I think Red Bull, which is currently on the Formula One grid, is the quickest one at the moment.

Livery

I like the Ferrari and Mercedes side of mind; both are nice. I like the new Mercedes style, it’s pretty nice. But also the Ferrari red is a nice car.
