4. John Elkann

John Elkann was named Executive Director of Stellantis on January 17, 2021. On the same day, he was also named Chairman. He previously served as FCA’s Chairman and Executive Director beginning on October 13, 2014. From April 21, 2010, he was Chairman of Fiat S.p.A., where he served as Vice Chairman in 2004 and board member since 1997. John Elkann is also Chief Executive Officer of Exor N.V. and Chairman of Giovanni Agnelli B.V.

Born in New York in 1976, John Elkann obtained a scientific baccalaureate from the Lycée Victor Duruy in Paris and graduated in Engineering from Politecnico, the Engineering University of Turin (Italy). He worked at different FCA Group companies in the UK, Poland, and France during college. In the U.K. and Poland, he worked in manufacturing; in France, he worked in sales and marketing. He started his professional career in 2001 at General Electric as a member of the corporate audit staff, with assignments in Asia, the United States and Europe.

Elkann was baptized and raised Catholic. Elkann married Donna Lavinia Borromeo (born Lavinia Ida Borromeo-Arese on March 10 1977, in Milan, Italy), a prominent Italian aristocratic family member of the House of Borromeo. She is the daughter of Don Carlo Ferdinando Borromeo, Count of Arona (born in 1935), and the son of Vitaliano Borromeo, the 2nd Prince of Angera. They married in a Roman Catholic ceremony in the Cappella Bianca on Isola Madre, one of the Borromean Islands of Lake Maggiore. They have three children.

John Elkann is Chairman of Ferrari N.V. and Ferrari S.p.A. and Chairman of GEDI Gruppo Editoriale S.p.A. He also served on the boards of The Economist Group from 2009 to 2020 and PartnerRe Ltd. from 2016 to 2021. John Elkann is a member of the Board of Trustees and the Nominating Committee of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). He also serves as Chairman of the Giovanni Agnelli Foundation.
